Recreation News

Hello Basalt!

We at the Town of Basalt would like to wish you and yours a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season! Thank you for your support of Basalt Recreation. Participants, parents, volunteer coaches, referees, umpires... All of it could not be done without you!

Instructional League Basketball teams have been organized, uniforms ordered, and pre-season practice has started. There are over 100 participants who will learn the fundamentals of basketball and challenge their understanding against Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, and Aspen. These teams are sponsored by local businesses. Please consider using these businesses as they support Youth Sports in Basalt!

In January we are offering an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training. The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course is to provide youth who want to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants.

Designed for youth grades 5th and up, this course helps participants develop leadership skills, build a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and guide children's behavior. Participants also learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Registration can be found here.

Pickleball is really hitting its stride in Basalt thanks to Maurine Fitzpatrick! Don't miss out on the family fun at the New Year's Potluck Celebration on Tuesday Dec. 31st from 4p-8p at Basalt Middle School. Bring a dish and enjoy the fun! Use the backdoor to the gym near the tennis courts.

Check out all our happenings and be sure to register early to secure your spot!

Enjoy!
