BASALT—The Town of Basalt this week will be mailing to residents additional information about its mill levy, including a short survey on this topic. The survey can be completed and returned to the Town by mail or email—or filled out online at http://bit.ly/BasaltMillLevy.
The Town is asking Basalt residents to look for the survey in their mailboxes and to be sure to complete it by March 29. For households with multiple residents, please use the online version so that all opinions are heard. However, please only fill it out once, so Council has consistent community input throughout this process.
Town Council and staff will use the information gathered—along with other public input—to decide whether to place one or more questions on the November 2019 ballot. The survey results will be presented at a Council meeting in April.
Town Council has not made a decision about a proposed question but needs the engagement and opinions from the community to develop a collaborative and successful process to address the mill levy issue. The Basalt Town Council has not decided if it will ask voters in November to approve the Town’s property tax rate.
Questions and comments about the mill levy and the survey can be directed to Christy Hamrick, Town Finance Director, at email@example.com or 970-927-4701. The Town posts all information about the mill levy on its web site at http://bit.ly/BasaltMillLevy.
