Watch for signs of Emerald Ash Borer

“Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), a highly invasive wood boring insect, has been identified in the Roaring Fork Valley.  This insect infests and kills all species of Ash tree.  Currently, it’s spread is limited to Carbondale, but Basalt residents should take precautions to monitor and protect their trees. Preventative treatment options are available.  For more information, follow the link to the Colorado State Forestry Service website.  Informational flyers are also available at Town Hall.

The Town of Basalt Arborist is conducting a town-wide evaluation of all publicly owned ash trees to monitor for EAB presence.  A collaboration of municipal and private Arborists is also hosting a free public educational meeting on July 20th, 6-8pm, at the Carbondale Town Hall.  If you’re concerned about a possible infestation in your private ash tree, please contact Chris Beiser (Town of Basalt Arborist) at chris.beiser@basalt.net.”
